Default LL Bean or Filson premium wool cruiser?

Curious if any Mainers have either of these two wool coats. I'm thinking I would like to buy soon, but would like some feedback. How is the product? Quality, warmth, fit? Was the money spent worth the goods?

I have had the LL Bean wool parka and pants for years. I have to wear long underwear under the pants because of itching which will lead to over heating if the temp gets above 20. Both have maintained well over the years and have been very warm and comfortable. Would highley recommend the LL Bean apparell.

We have the LL Bean bibs and they are WONDERFUL! They are lined, which is great. My husband got a used Filson and is happy with the style and warmth, but unhappy with the fact that it is unlined and itchy. We are going to try to get it lined when we get somewhere that has a tailor/seamstress (i am NOT!). We had a tough time finding the wool clothing that we wanted. I ended up getting a Navy Peacoat, which is wonderful, and lined. Ultimately, the Filson or LL bean would be an excellent purchase, but if unlined, you will have to wear long sleeves and it may still be a bit itchy.

I vote for a Johnson wool coat. Very pricey but one will literally last a lifetime. check out Johnson Woolen Mills Home Page to see their web site. A New England company to boot. I have a Johnson coat that I still wear on occasion that's about 40 years old.
