Default Maine Liberal Leanings and Bradford or LaGrange

We are looking to move from MA to escape the suburbs and the daily liberal idiocy we experience. We want to live in the country, North of Bangor but a reasonable driving distance because there is a church of our denomination (LCMS) there and it is the Northernmost one. We do not impose ourselves on others but we do not want to raise our children in a state that has gay "marriage" and we see the state going even further to the left. We love New England and Maine in particular. Can anyome comment for us on if you think that Maine is or could be as left leaning as MA? I am all for leaving people be as long as they leave us be. In MA we all have to pretend that we think all socialist ideas are just peachy or you are called "intolerant" however if they disagree with you it is ok. We homeschool and will continue to do so if we move no matter where it is. I know that homeschooling is active and well in Maine so that we are ok with already.

In searching out properties we have found several in the Bradford and LaGrange areas that look good to us. Older homes with some land and a water source, stream, brook, pond would be ideal. Can anyone comment on these areas good or bad?

lost, i can only speak for myself, but i've lived in maine all my life, and here is my views on maine and politics, i believe there are certain factions of mainers that lean left (most that work for the government(state), or are on the taxpayers reward system, and many union workers, traditionally lean left, and,,,it seems a high concentration of left leaners, are from portland area.
now having said all this, i work closely with small business, and very rarely do i run into a left leaning businessperson, most mainers i know, north of portland, are conservative.
as far as the "gay" issue you mentioned, i've got a son coming up thru the public school system, and they have handled this issue very well, with kids.
personally, i dont have a problem if someone is gay, just keep it to yourself, public displays, (i've yet to see two men kissing in public in maine)

the areas you've mentioned in maine, are decent areas, and ,,,,believe you will find, what you are trying to move away from.

Maine is pretty moderate I believe. In the southern part of the state along the coast can be quite liberal but not MA liberal. I'd imagine that the bangor area would be more to the right if you ignore the college students. Its pretty even though. Kerry got the vote in Maine last election 53% to 47% while in Mass, Kerry won 62%-37%.

Default the weekly

Try the service section of a local paper called The Weekly. They have a large service section where handymen put ads. It is owned by the Bangor Daily News so maybe you could locate it thru thier website. Goodluck.
