Cheap Clean Fill In Bangor/Hapden Area
Does anyone know of any good sources for cheap clean fill? When the trees were cleared out for our house the level ground dropped off and we had a few loads brought in and wow was it expensive.. I joked at work for weeks about how it was just dirt LOL. Seriously though if anyone has any suggestions for some cheap clean fill I would love to get a couple more truck loads.

Put a sign up-"Clean fill wanted."
You'd be surprised at the results.

Maine DOT plan to widen the Bangor road to 100 feet right of way, we have big boulders stack up about 10 feet high 30 feet long in the front part of our property. They offer to relocate them where would be a good location for them so they don't have to be move again. MDOT also want to remove some ledge to level the road on the property they are buying from us and some of the ledge on our property, how best to handle this.
Sorry Exairforce don't mean to hijack your thread, hate to start a new one for this since it is about dirt and rock anyway

Among the Maine myths and legends that I have been told by locals here is that when getting 'fill' you must be careful to limit how much fill you get per acre.
That apparently a neighbor was getting free fill from the DOT during one of their projects, some one else dropped a dime to EPA. Who came up with a regulation that only allows a set amount of land to be filled, without environmental impact studies being done. Filling was halted.
It took years and thousands of dollars, before the government decided that the amount of fill already spread out was the legal maximum, and that no more could be filled on their property. So they got away with no fines.
I was told this by a neighbor. And urged that if a person were to fill, that it may need to be done, slowly drawn out over a few years. grass seeded after each layer of fill. So the filling process appears slowly and 'natural'.
The moral?
When you ask for Phil; dont be surprised if Larry, Moe and Curly show up too.
