Being "impartial" is not necessarily a bad thing.

Yes, now as I recall back in my "hoss owner" days...those old muck boots were indispensable. The trek between the barn and the house was nothing but mud (along with a few seasoned horse patties) - 2 feet deep in places.

They were insulated with a felt lining as I recall, but not so much that I couldn't wear them in warmer weather.

We're a muck boot family too! Everybody has got a pair of boots ans there a a few pairs of the low cut muck shoes around also. They are easy to slip on and off for quick trips up to the barn to check on the ewes as we are in our lambing season right now. Unlike the boots which often require 2 kids working together to pull them off their feet but essential for doing chores in. Wearing your good school sneakers up to the barn will forfeit your allowance or get you grounded around here.

Thanks so much for the Muck Boot advice. These are indeed highly rated and I would not have known about them had it not been for this forum!

Tractor Supply Company - Product Comparison=
Two good choices ....and they won't break the bank. Twenty below the last few nights and with good alpacca socks the're warm enough for me when moving around. Had to downgrade after retiring from firefighting. Those were "real" boots, and easy on /off and much warmer.
