""President Barack Obama’s intelligence chief confirmed Thursday that some Guantanamo inmates may be released on US soil and receive assistance to return to society."

“If we are to release them in the United States, we need some sort of assistance for them to start a new life,” ""

As I understand this, we are to release them from Gitmo, bring them stateside , give them welfare and legal representation so they can sue the government.

Good News! Gitmo Detainees Released in US Will Get Welfare : Stop The ACLU

Now if that is the case, do we want terrorists freed in Maine while their law suits are pending?

Ooops I did not intend this as trolling, I was just so shocked when I read it.

uh, as a military member myself, I do not wish to see known terrorists freed anywhere.

Certainly not here, certainly not any state bordering here. certainly not any state contiguous to here.

I find the source to be a little suspiciously biased. I think I will do more research for myself on this issue. I didn't get the feeling that the facts were being portrayed.

I heard that 15 or 20 were going to be released and that they are supposedly innocent. But after being held for years in Gitmo I wouldn't put too much trust in their attitude when they get out. A couple years ago here in WI we had a guy released after serving 18 years after being falsely accused/convicted of rape. DNA proved he was innocent. So he sued the state and won, but before he got the payoff he coerced a female advertising rep to his place of business (a salvage yard) and raped, killed her and burned her body in a pit. I think this happened within a year of his release. I can see the same scenario happening if not worse. Send 'em home.

Hard to imagine anyone being in favour of having terrorists running about, but this topic has little to do with Maine and really belongs over in the Politics forum.
