Hello All,
I am looking through the Maine Craigslist in the Farm & Garden section, and happened upon cranberry bales. Are these very high in protein and are they used to feed livestock? Does anyone know the advantages of them and are they readily available? Sorry for the goofy question, but trying to LEARN everything I can in more natural feedstuffs. Also they do seem costly, as they were only 30 lb bales? Thanks!!

The only Bales of Cranberry cuttings I'm familiar with are used for planting. Cranberry vines are planted from cuttings or runners. When a bog is thinned out the "cuttings" are baled and kept moist for establishing a new area or a new bog. It takes a couple of years to get the new plantings to start producing decently, The "rule" was seven years from new planting to full production.
