Some of our international airports have a USO room. Manned by volunteers, to provide a hang-out for servicemembers between flights.

Let's not forget the church groups and individuals who make a habit of greeting the troops as they come in! T and I have had the privilege of being amongst those greeting troops, and it is a humbling experience. The tears of happiness to be handed a cell phone to call home, seeing all the service men and women wandering around talking to the greeters. They are happy to be back on American soil again, and so glad to have a large greeting! The older women who volunteer are amazing, and I've seen troops who were coming back for a 2nd or 3rd time and would specifically seek out certain ladies for hugs.
In particular, one woman named Joyce I knew met those planes day or night, of her own accord!

I have returned from deployment overseas many times.
Each time I was very happy to be once again on US soil.
