American girl, you made my day! As a child that was one of my chores, removing those things from pants just taken down off the line. Had not even thought about them for at least 45 years.

The thing I really hated was ironing a basket of laundry. My mom had an old green vermouth bottle with a spinkler stopper to moisten the clothes before we got a steam iron. Spray starch and a steam iron was a big advancement in technology. Thanks for getting those old brain cells of mine activated!
