Default Helping Small Farmers in Waldo County

I just wanted to let people on here know that the Waldo County Soil and Water Conservation District is looking to help the small farmers and homesteaders in Waldo County. We are looking to get Waldo County producers who sell agricultural products and put them on a map so that tourists and local people can see what is available in our county for locally produced food.

This includes ALL agriculturally based products including, wool, red meat, lobster, apples, alpaca socks, etc. The size of the farm is of little importance, if farmers and homesteaders have a sign out by their driveway and would like some free promotional help, we would like to list them. At the same time it does not matter how big you are either. If you sell agricultural or aquaculture products in Waldo County and want help getting customers to your place of business or home, we are looking for you as well. This will go onto a map of waldo county and be placed in a brochure and on-line.

If you know of any farmers or homesteaders in Waldo County, please let them know that they can direct message me and I will be sure they can be put on the map of locally produced agricultural and aquaculture products. Again it does not matter the size or number of products you sell.

People cannot buy local food if they do not know where to get it.

Thanks for you help.

Excellant post! What a good thing to do. We try to shop locally and knowing where to get eggs, veggies, cheese and stuff is very helpful. Once you have an organized list, if you could put it on a map with maybe "stars" or "spots" for locations and, a "legend" or "list" with a description of goods available, it would make a great flyer that can also be posted online.

An excellent idea......of course I am not up that way.....but still admire a good idea with good intentions!
