You are correct....Bob Young did close his "business" last January.
Not to be confused with his brother's place on the harbor.
Young's Lobster Pound.

Where is Maine Shellfish Co. ? I feel I already know this one but can quite see the answer.

That's a great site. We are moving to Brunswick soon and now I know

Great time of year to be here. You can get out and explore all day and in the evening you need a sweater. The gardens aren't in yet, but a lot of flowering plants are in bloom. Our yard smells like lilacs. Calais ain't that far from Ellsworth and the drive up the coast is great. DON"T cut across on highway 191. You aren't coming to see how fast you can get here. You're coming for scenery and that's on Hwy. 1.

Trenton Bridge, Downeast Lobster (also in Trenton), Jasper's or Helen's in Ellsworth or one of the many restaurants on Mt. Desert Island As far as where to live, drive around and fall in love with one place after another.

Unless it relocated, the area where Oak Point Lobster Pound was located became a housing development....how disappointing.

As far as stuff to do: Dover has at 5 gas stations, 3 grocery stores, several convenience stores, restaurants, bars, a hospital, an elite high school academy, a great theater, 4 hardware stores and lots of different shops. It's close to Sebec Lake and Peaks Kenney State Park too. ATV'ing is great along with snowmobiling trails everywhere. There's canoeing, hiking, fishing, etc., etc., etc. I don't have space to list all the stuff to do.

My brother has a child in the SoDaMoCha middle school and another in Foxcroft Academy. They came from CA and have found the schools there exceptional.

We're only an hour or so from things like Moosehead Lake, Mt. Katadin and the Bangor area. There are over 7000 people in the summer and less than 4000 in the winter.

I just don't know what else to say. Maybe the ocean is better than Dover. Maybe the Bangor area is better than Dover. Maybe some people just don't like Dover. That's cool. But just remember when someone says something bad about a town or area, they may have had bad experinces there and that has clouded their judgement a little.

Newport is a great town and was mentioned here. Freeway close and ocean close. I like Newport a lot.

HTH...Roger
