Default Maine Property

My husband and I are looking to buy a few acres somewhere between Bucksport and Jonesport - probably can't afford right on the water but would like to be within 1/2 hour +/- and we like rural. I have seen some property in Jonesport that's reasonable but we may need to be a tad closer to Banger for my work. I'm mobile but will need decent sized city within an hour for occasional trips. We do have one son but he's homeschooled, however would like a town that has some good programs for kids/family. We are very familiar with the Kittery-Bath corridor but that's as far as we've gone.

Any input on these locations would be appreciated - I've heard bugs are really horrible up that way...myth?

Any of the towns between Bucksport and Jonesport are nice.
I would have no idea about programs... we always just did our own things.

The bugs are no worse than bugs that you will find anywhere. Blackflies and mosquitos. Bens 100 works great, but there are other ways to take care of that problem besides deet. The other ways don't work as long, so many applications would be needed, but they do work.
