yes they are last year we planted a "profusion" dark red leaf and flower crab apple....it arrived in bad shape but we did triage...and got it in the ground.....it is all leafed out and looking wonderful....sending out new growth where all the leaves and buds had been lost in transit (unwrapped on the back of a flat bed truck)!

I'm finally able to hang the laundry on the line again. Nothing like clean, fresh air dried sheets when you go to bed. And the garden is almost "just mostly wet" instead of "mud pie garden".

congratulations! How I remember the excitement of watching for those peas to come up and then to start to climb. Not much prettier than pea vines in the morning dew...(or frost this morning).

I bet whatshisname will be fuming about me again this year. hehehe The phone rang the other day. No 'how are you' or 'this is ____'.

"Are you ahead of me?" He was asking if I already had my peas in. Peas are a big deal out here. I used to race with Vinal until he was killed a little over a year ago. Last year's peas were sad without my buddy. It's not quite the same but I'll have fun with them again thanks to our superintendent.

The ice went out on the pond April 19th so we could put our PVC away and fish with a pole now! Yippee........
The loons are back and singing a lovely tune.
Fiddle heads are showing on southerly exposed river banks.
The swallows have returned and will nest as soon as bugs are plentiful.
Deer and moose are seen daily, ugly this time of year but aren't we all?
A sparrow hawk picked a meal off my sunflower feeder Sunday.
Turkey season starts Monday.
It was 24º this morning.
Monday the temperature reached 84º.
Tuesday morning a bear raided my neighbor's feeder.
Yep 'tis the season!

I love the warmth in the air! The windows are all ready open here

(It is still not warm enough however to hook the puppy out at 1:30 am and go out five minutes later *barefoot* to untangle her....)

Yeah, but they're worth it. Usually. You should have seen my "little" guy when we got here. He LOVES the snow! When it started melting, he would still go up to the edge of the woods looking for a patch of it to play in. Came in with bright pink paws.
