If I am not mistaken part of Rt. 2 in Hermon is going to be taken off the to-do list for this year. I read a complete list of roads that are not going to be done - in the Greater Bangor area - in the past week.

Sad thing~ That I've noticed.. we only really have one road out of Calais~
To bad we don't have a road over the mountain (by the highschool area) I think that would be kind of nice on some days. I remember people talking about it long ago... I thought that would be nice as well..

Sort of like a Calais bypass Peachie? Bypasses are great, but they have a really negative effect on the local businesses. When I was young our town built a bypass. It was great for people in a hurry. It was the slow death of downtown. All the big box stores built on the bypass, and downtown was left empty except for the county seat government offices. The local merchants for the most part faded away over a few years.

True... but to be honest with you, they are not getting the business they could with all that construction. I avoided stopping at the area's with that kind of hassel for "business". I think to myself, naw.. I'll pick that up at right aid instead of hair shanty.

The reason why they have chosen to dig it all up at the same time is because calais was slated for repaving by the state for this year. It only made sense to have the water project done right before paving so that Calais did not have to pay for paving, and let the state take the bill on this one. I love it, people constantly complain about how much our water sucks, but then they ***** when the city decides to replace the old rotting pipes to put in new ones, and have the roads replaced at once....hmmm have a little done at a time....or get it all done in one shot. I'm sorry, I'll take one shot compaired to years of avoiding constuction.

I just figured for the cities "tourism" they wouldn't want to risk that income on road rip up.
