Default Emailed PUC

These places may or not be close to where you live and the central offices may not be big enough to be manned all day but instead of calling repair service, you can try doing it ths way.

Then call the public utility commisison and file a complaint. A letter to the president of Fairpoint won't hurt. What you have is what was called a "medical emergency" type of report. Those would and should always have first priority and there never was a wait period for those in the past.
Thanks, JC3.

I emailed the PUC yesterday since I was able to work. I'm home this morning since my husband HAD to be at a job by 7:30. I'm going to be calling them when they open at 8:30. Also have other calls to make that I didn't get the opportunity to yesterday.

All the comments here have at least made me know I'm not alone.

Thank you all, again!

Linda

Default Lifeline issue wasn't put in repair request

At 12 noon, still with no phone service, I called again and was told that we were scheduled for repair sometime on TUESDAY. My memory is that, in the past, former phone providers would have had this repaired in hours. Is my memory faulty? Of course this means that someone doesn't go to work today, Monday, June 29, because my mother would be left totally alone, which is not remotely appropriate. And yesterday, we gave our last-minute regrets to the friend who had scheduled a gathering months before.

What is your memory of phone service? What is your current experience? Am I unreasonable in expecting this to be repaired more quickly?

There's more in my blog if you are interested. I don't know if it is possible to link to it from here.
I called Fairpoint repair again today - wish I'd called them yesterday. The very pleasant lady I spoke with said that their computers were running slowly this weekend and they were doing a lot on paper and transcribing into the computers as fast as they'd allow. The Lifeline issue didn't make it into the repair request. She said that was no excuse and apologized. She said the repair should have been done Sunday since I'd called before 10 AM that day. She called the dispatch, called me back just after 9 AM this morning, and said that the repairman was already on his first repair and would be coming here next. Well, it's just after 10 and he's not here yet, but at least, I'm pretty sure, he'll be here today.

Again, thank you to all of you for your commiseration, suggestions and assistance in this matter. You folks are the greatest!!!

Linda
