Looking for Land in Western Maine
Hello,
We are looking for 5-10 acres in western Maine, hopefully around 1000-2000 an acre (or less, of course). We're looking to be in the Maine White Mountains, if possible, or just outside them in a cute town, and I've read on here that it's best to deal with a private party in Maine. We will be going over to look at some stuff within the next couple weeks - any advice for us?
We live in the Adirondacks now, and love mountain living but we're looking for a better fit, and feel that Maine will work out for us. We'd like to be close to hiking, lakes, and any outdoor activities, since that's what we'll be doing in our free time. Jobs aren't important since we work online, but internet would be very important... What are the internet options in Oxford/Franklin counties?
We'll probably be living in a camper/RV on the land while we build a house, so that would have to be allowed.
Thanks for any help you can give!

You need to be in the area.
So many regions in Maine, each is different.
Stop in and talk to folks in each diner, they will know the area and who has what.

Maine does have a lot to offer in terms of outdoor activities.

I bought land, plopped an RV on it, and lived in it as I began building. It worked well for me.
Good luck!

If you are looking for this type of lifestyle, the two counties you mentioned are a good fit.
Plenty of hiking, skiing and fishing coupled with our majestic mountains, should suit you fine.
$1,000-$2,000/acre is possible along with living in your camper while building.
I use Time Warner and it's available in most parts of Franklin and Oxford counties.
Welcome to our beautiful part of the state.
