I am not Ranger, but I have a good story to tell out of the hundreds I have.
Back when I was a child, we use to play Hide-and-Seek quite a bit since this was about the only entertainment we had then in 1977.
I was outside with rest of the family one night playing our game, when it became my time to be the seeker.
I closed my eyes and counted to a hundred (which allowed the younger ones a chance to hide) and when I had reached a hundred, I yelled out to everyone "Ready or not here I come" and began my search.
Part way across the yard I realized my grandfathers small kitchen table light was lit, and I could just make out his form in the light.
He was sitting there watching us play our game and smoking his pipe as he always did.
When suddenly my older sister yells "Home free" and I looked to see that she was where she was, and when I turned my attention back to my grandfathers house, the kitchen window was dark.
My grandfather had died in the winter of 1976 and shortly after the funeral the electricity was turned off at his house.
I thought it was quite interesting that my grandfather would return like that.
This is a true story

As with most kids you probably had your head down between your arms as you counted. When you raised your head quickly the quick change in blood pressure made you have a pressure related hallucination and the return of higher pressure to your eyes made you see a light that wasn't there.(don't you hate scientific explainations?)

I like his story better. Explanations are just so not fun.
This reminds me of when me and my two sisters just moved to River Road in Eliot, Maine in the early sixties. We discovered a little beach within walking distance that my parents let us walk to alone. When we got there on the first visit, we put down our blankets and refreshments and were all just sitting there when all of a sudden these scary looking creatures just started swarming us from the water and we all thought they we're coming to get us so we all started screaming and we all ran all the way home and told our parents that water monsters with tails were attacking us and there were hundreds of them. They may just as well have been ghosts to us.
My father came back in about 10 minutes from the scene of the crime.
We had never seen horseshoe crabs before.

Does anyone recall a show on MPBN about 20 years ago about haunted places in Maine? It was only one show, an hour long at most. Had one particularly good tale of a homeowner trying to remove a chair of a previous occupant and the damn thing kept coming back. Ring any bells?

A few weeks ago I spoke with someone that grew up in the house right across the street from us that asked me if I knew that my house was haunted. She told me there was a rocking chair that used to rock on it's own and there was the spirit of a lady that was often seen. I've never seen any of my rocking chairs rock on their own, but when our daughters visit, they always have something unexplained happen to them on the very first night they are here. My DH and I have experienced unexplained things here, sometimes a little unsettling, but I believe we co-exist quite peacefully together with whatever may be here. There is an old family burial plot across the street that dates back to the Revolutionary War though. Just no headstones anymore....
