Maine weather...One extreme to the other!
In mid July we were still using the furnace to take the chill out of the house. It was 58 degrees out for a high and as everyone remembers all it did was rain for part of May, most of June and almost all of July. Here it is three weeks later and it has been 85 to 90 degrees for the past four or five days. They're talking 92 around here today. It's nice that it isn't raining but were back in the house again this time to avoid the heat. How about a little moderation from the weather gods? Now possibly a hurricane in a few days? Great!

I had to drive home to the Cape last night and I'm miserable. It's so disgustingly humid down here. 88° at 10 a.m. when I went to the appointment I had to come back for.
Just watched the noon time news out of Boston... hurricane projections at this point show Hurricane Bill being 240 miles east of the Cape on Sunday... unless it curves differently, the only expectation for us is high surf and erosion along the outer beaches... since we're sand compared to your rocks, that's a big concern out this way. It looks like the hurricane will swerve way out to sea and miss all of Maine at this point, but of course, it bears keeping a watchful eye on it as they are unpredictable.

We get berated if we do not conserve energy and go green. Al Gore and others make millions off it. But Ma Nature....she wastes it all at one time and then has no heat left for the winter. But we're supposed to be nice to her??? Maybe someone should read "The Grasshopper and the Ants" to her. Maybe get some conservation from her.

heh, heh...I'm not complaining a bit. I'll enjoy the memory of this when my rump is perched next to my woodstove next February.
I don't like sweating while I'm taking a shower, but I'll take this over wind chill factors any day...

This is a REALLLLLLLLY great idea!!!!! lol First I have to put my a/c unit in the bedroom window. I'd gone to Maine without bothering since it had been so rainy and cold! Didn't seem like we'd even need air conditioning this summer!

Sunny, clear and dry; this is nice
I got a bunch of work done today outside. Digging and moving dirt around.
This is so much better than being wet and mucky!
Tomorrow I hope to install 3 sections of culvert, and then on to our next chicken coop. I am glad to finally be getting stuff done here

Agree with Maineah -- we're off to find a chilly cold one at an equally chilly bar somewhere.
Today's humidity is the worst non-catastrophic weather I've experienced and that includes living close to a wildfire in the San Francisco bay area for a month that made the asphalt heave; the 26 below (actual not wind chill) temp in Alaska one winter there; and the 60 inches of snow in Virginia back in '95. I hate this weather. Sorry heat lovers, I'm wishing I were back in the land of central AC in every structure this afternoon. I keep reminding myself it won't last.
Still -- I'm wondering -- just how rare is it????

That's going to be dependent on what part of Maine you're in. It's a pretty big state with divergent weather. Inland won't generally get the sea breezes we see along the coastline for example.
