Default The Pizza Train (BMLRR)

We had a good time today that did not cost a fortune and was only a few miles away from the house. The Belfast Moosehead Lake Railroad had a train excursion from Brooks to Thorndike from 11:00 to 13:00 and so the wife and I took the two kids (3 year old) (16 year old).

It was a lot of fun...and cheap. It cost us 30 dollars for a family of four, and that included pizza and soda at the halfway point in Thorndike. For this ole railroader, it brought back a lot of memories too.

I think they have another pizza excursion in a few weeks if anyone would like to go. They are running under the name "Brooks Preservation Society" which can be googled up for more info. Again, this is not an ad for them at all. it was just fun and cheap which is something to consider in these economic times.

Sounds like a fun time Tap! Glad you enjoyed yourselves. I bet Arzachena and a few others with kids would enjoy this trip.

It sounds like a high price, but really is not at $30 for a family of 4. I mean for 8 bucks a person...that is a cheap train ride (2 hours). Or you can figure that you would spend at least 15 bucks for a pizza and soda for a family of 4 at a pizza place. So for 8 bucks a person, you get a train ride and pizza and soda...that's a darn good deal!

I really don't know how the railroad is making money on the deal once you factor in diesel fuel and other expenses, but still it might be worth doing. Myself, my wife, my 16 year old daughter and 3 year old daughter all said we had fun...

It sounds like a great idea......and it is nice of you to share the info "Broken Tap"...you are right that the price is right, and it could be a good family activity that doesnt break the budget.
