I moved away from Bath in 1984. While I lived there, my husband and I like to go to a bar that was across the street from BIW. It isn't the one that was up by the parking lot, there was another one on a side street over near where The Cabin used to be. Is The Cabin still there? Is that bar still there? I looked The Cabin up, guess it is still there - probably still making great pizzas and cheesesteak sandwiches. Where is that bar? I can't find anything about it - can't remember the name of it. Can anybody help me?

The Harbor Fights was downtown IIRC, at the lower end of Front Street. It closed just a couple of years ago. I can't remember the name of the place jkt54 remembers, but BIW bought the property at least ten years ago and turned it into a parking lot because too many workers were nipping over there on their lunch breaks to slam back boilermakers before returning to work.

Bath doesn't really have any workingman's bars anymore. The place has gotten absolutely upscale.

Mainebrokermon, the pizza place you remember is still there. Not sure if it has OTB anymore. So is the Cabin, and still serves great pizza.

Default Thanks for trying...

Thanks so much for trying to help. We just can't for the life of us remember the name or the exact location of that bar. I HATE when I can't remember something.... Does anyone have an old telephone book from 1984 or an old business directory from that time period? Maybe the place might be listed along with an address so that I can find it on my map.

It was located on the northwest corner of Washington and South Streets, across South Street from One Stop Food and Deli (we used to call it the Washington Street Social Center back in the day). One Stop is at 624 Washington St., according to Google.

Default Thanks

Thank you. You have helped a lot. I have found it on my map, and know just where it was. Thanks. Now if I just could find the name of the darn place, I could put it to rest.

I remember the place you're talking about. We used to go in there for a beer after working on the BIW lot putting up chainlink fence one summer. Locals would stare a hole through you for the first few days. After that they could have cared less.
