When I come home, I usually try to make it to the coast for a couple days, as well. This year, we traveled to the Lincolnville Beach area and south to Port Clyde. This coastal trip ended up being one of the highlights of our visit! We met up with Tankratt and his family and Coastal for a much-too-brief get-together, as I had another rendezvous to go to. (Thank you, Mermaid, for planning that! It was great!) Then we went on to friends of my BIL for a lobster bake on their beach in Tenant's Harbor. DH did a little "shopping" there on the beach, collecting some beautiful rocks for my brother to bring down in his car this winter to add to our waterfall. Yes, my brother actually hauls a crate of rocks down for us. He's done it a few times before and will probably do it a few times more. The next morning, we walked along the breakwater to the Rockland lighthouse. My entire time in Maine was great, but this trip to the coast was icing on the cake.

Thanks so much for the summer 09 memories. I have a lot of great ideas from reading your posts, for next summer. And it's "true" it isn't over, I consider Sept. summer only with crisp invigorating days. We may go down to Camden this coming weekend for the Windjammer days. - Kinda depends on the weather. The Windsor Fair is on right now too.

Sounds like you had a great time, all of it! I am quite jealous.

This summer has been filled with nightly excursions photographing the landscape and surrounding mountains around here.
Many nights myself and able bodied assistant have headed into the woods along with the large amount of rain and very large amounts of mosquitoes!
This summer has more meaning for me than any in recent memory.
One I'll not soon forget.
My Mom was homebound and being near blindness, every morn I'd download the photos and head next door so she could "see" the previous night's excursion. Guess you could say I did it for Mother.
We lost her on August 15th of this year and I will love her forever.
I and my able bodied assistant continue to pound the woods every night looking for the next picture and will not stop-in memory of my beloved Mother.

C~, I'm very sorry for your loss. Losing your mom is a difficult passage in life. I'm sure she's been and continues to be very proud of you. She's at peace now and that I hope gives you some measure of comfort. Continuing your photography in memory of her is a wonderful way to pay tribute to her. God Bless.

7TH - my condolences on the loss of your mom.
My step-father fell asleep 15April and my mother fell asleep 6May. I flew out to California the end of June to bury them both.
2009 has been a year of loss for us.
