That's easy. Two weeks ago, just in time for fall to start, it quit raining every day, the sun came out and stayed for a week, we had more than one day in a row in the 80's! Best memories we have in Rockwood's Northwoods all year!!

Callmechaz - I love Moosehead Lake -- I have such wonderful memories of camping at Lily Bay and a trip on a small boat "The Sockatean" sp? out of Rockwood. There were only 4 couples of us and we got to have lunch near that old resort they were about to tear down on Mt. Kineo. One couple was from Georgia, one from Vermont, one from Iowa and us. The Iowa couple were school teachers on their 2nd or 3rd trip to maine looking for moose. As of then they still hadn't spotted one. Our last trip to Greenville was across a horrible Rt. 15 - they had most of it torn up. The last I heard it still isn't done.

I've gotta add just one more memorie for summer of '09. We stayed over one night in Ogunquit, a place I had only driven through in the past. What fun we had. Spent a couple hours late day on Footbridge beach. Took the trolley into the town and down to Perkins Cove for a lovely dinner at Barnicle Billy's and ate out on the terrace "right" on the water with the lovely twinkle lights all around and gorgeous garden there too. Fried clams and salmon were perfection. Planning to go to Ogunquit again.

Maybe I'll add a quick note for summer of 09, disabled, spend most of time in house, but was able to finish writing book into computer, still have more books to write, nothing published though, hoping 10 will be better.

Just popping in for a minute to say that my summer in Maine is still ongoing! I'm reserving the right to resurrect this thread until 10/6 when my summer in Maine is offically over. I will then have far too many wonderful memories to log into one post, as I've been having the summer of my dreams. I'll be back in a couple weeks to bore the hell out of all of you!

Maybe you should think about self publishing a few and get them out there. Who knows!

Welcome to the forum! There's a writing forum on CD. It's slow but interesting.

I made my first visit back to Maine after leaving in 1964 as a small kid. I was lucky enough to be there for the heat wave in mid-August. Every day we were there, it was in the mid 80's to low 90's. I stayed in OOB about a block up from the pier.
While in Maine, I visited the Portland Head Light and made day trips to Boston and Portsmouth, NH. Probably the best day while in Maine was one spent at Wells Beach. The water was incredibly warm...even warmer than the beaches here in So Cal.
I am already planning my next trip for next summer.
