Homes for Lease in the Bath Area...where to look?
Hello,
I just found this forum and I'm thrilled how active it is.
We are currently looking for a home to lease for a year, unfurnished, in the Bath area, but outside of the downtown...something with a bit more room and some land...mainly for noise reasons.
I've been looking around Phippsburg and Arrowsic/Georgetown. Both places look great and I took a drive through both areas today, and I have to say I'm favoring the Arrowsic peninsula more.
I've looked at Craigslist and have had some luck asking realtors about empty homes for sale that might consider leasing, but nothing definite yet. Does anyone else know of not-so-mainstream places that rentals are advertised? Local papers I don't know about, etc? Does anyone here personally know of a house that is/might consider leasing?
Any info appreciated! Not just on rentals, but the area as well. Thanks!

Island Mermaid pegged it. The Times Record is a good place to look. You should also include looking at the town of Woolwich, which is right across the river from Bath. You could even look as far as Wiscasset, which is only a few miles further.
One thing you should be aware of is that while Arrowsic and Georgetown are pretty, very few people there have high-speed internet access or cable TV. They've been trying for years, but the phone and cable companies just don't want to spend the money to put lines down there.

I will look at those two towns, thank you. One popped up in Woolwich last night actually. That's good to know about the cable down there, although we are quite used to it by now. The homes we have lived in the past four years were the same story, so we've grown accustomed to dial-up and no television, haha.

We looked at several rentals in the Bath/ Brunswick area with this rental management company:
Rentex
We ended up buying, but this seems to be a legit company with very nice rentals.
Good luck!
