Default Any Cheap places to live in Maine?

Once I have the money I'll be relocating to Maine, I've heard nothing but good about the state in General.

But my question is are there any cheap places that I can live at? By cheap I mean I can live off of 800-900 a month? or even cheaper if it's possible.

Also, I'd really like to live in a small town, but one big enough that I can do my grocery shopping, go to the library and the movies.

Yeah.

Well raising children on that budget might be difficult though.

Most of Maine is rural-ish small towns.

Take your pick

Welcome. Your budget is a bit of a stretch in my humble opinion. Once you've paid rent, auto expenses and utilities it would be difficult at best to buy groceries and have anything left for movies or other entertainment. I'm not saying it's impossible, as I don't know all of your circumstances but, I do think it could be quite tight. Best of luck.

Well the budget is the money that I Know for sure that I'll make in a month. If I have more money I'll use it obviously. Thanks for the help!

Can I have city names though? All I've got in Bangor.

Cities? We don't have those. Go to Google Maps, pull up Bangor and take a look at the area. Many of the smaller surrounding towns have rentals. Try also The Bangor Daily News classifieds and craigslist to get a real idea what rent could cost you.

I think Milbridge, Waterville, and Bangor are nice. The rent is somewhat pricey, but the towns are beautiful - as well as the entire state.

$800 to $900 will not be enough in a small town, you may be able to get a 1 bedroom apt. in Lewiston for under $500 or less depending on what part of town you look at.
