Sorry, no, lol....I don't do heat and humidity well at all. I'm comfortable as long as it doesn't go much higher then 75 degrees.

If you don't have your garden in by now, 'fuggedaboudit'. That's for all above ground plants. Carrots, beets, spuds etc can be dug until the ground freezes. This is also the time for another kind of harvest. Snowmobile clubs are out trimming back the brush crop along trails. We also remove dead trees leaning toward the trails. It's a lot easier to do now than after we have heavy snow.

"Statement as of 7:00 PM EDT on September 26, 2009

... Frost/freeze warning program concluded for all of northern and
downeast Maine...

The National Weather Service in Caribou Maine has concluded the
frost/freeze warning program for the 2009 growing season

Widespread temperatures below freezing have been recorded over a

morning. This breaks the old record of 27 set in 1939."

The sun has had an abnormally low number of sunspots which explains the generally lower temps on a global basis. You see, there has been climate change forever here on this third rock from the sun and all the previous cycles were caused by the sun. This one is being caused by the sun too.
Yep. I had my first annoying thin layer of "Drost" (a cross between dew and frost) on the windshield at work when I left at 1:45 a.m today).
Not quite enough to scrape, but enough to annoy the snot outta me while I was using the wipers.

Overall, I'd say the Farmer's Almanac nailed this year so far. I don't know what kind of magical secret equation they use, but summer was practically dead-on.

Was abnormally cold this year here in Connecticut as well. I was still wearing a sweatshirt while sitting on our deck in July! We have an inground pool which we opened the first week of June and we only swam in it 4 times this year due to the cold weather, rain. Bad summer down here for sure.

This morning it was 45 degrees and only got to 66 degrees by mid afternoon. Lots warmer than Caribou, but still a bit chilly for September here.

Stay warm!

hot again today...but thankfully no rain. It will come back in the next day or so. Atleast the daughter's 16th bday was sunny (although it was too hot to go outside...especially with the humidity at 98%...BLEH!) Hope you all are enjoying the nice cool REAL autumn weather!

My cousin married a guy who was career military. They lived in many places. She says the most intolerable place for her was Mississippi. They moved back to Maine when he retired.
