Default Bars in Bangor ?

Well, my next question is going to be about the bars, pubs, taverns, or night clubs in Bangor. My wife and I are in our mid 30's and upon our arrival to our new home in Bangor we would like to know what places are going to be acceptable. Here is what we would not like to see when we walk into a bar :

1) 2 bikers locked in a dueling match with broken beer bottles.
2) waiting in line in the bathroom due to drugs being snorted off the toilet lid.
3) A group of college kids doing there best " Road House " impersonation with the pool cues.
4) Sports Bars that have bartenders working that have no sports knowledge whatsoever !!

Ive seen some posts on here that lead me to believe that some of you can help me. Thanks Everyone for your help with all of my questions so far.

WLBZ did a story on a marketing plan for bars and restaurants downtown the other day. Here's a link to the story. You can play the video from there. (their web page makes you answer several questions in order to proceed...just be sure to put in fake answers so that the annoyance will be meaningless to them!)

I am not one to frequent bars, but when we were doing the Thursday market in Bangor this summer, we were around the corner from Paddy Murphys. A friend of mine who lives and works in Bangor goes there pretty often, sometimes with his college-age son, as well, and he recommended it to me.

I haven't been in for a drink or a bite yet, but I did get change for my booth from the bartender a couple of times and it seems like a good place that would be worth checking out.

Both suggestions, Paddy Murphy's and Sea Dog are nice places. I have been to both and both are really good places to go.

I second "The Sea Dog" for your aga group. It always seems to be crowded and everyone having a good time. There food is good too.

If you want a smaller more intimate atmosphere try the "Whig and Courier" I think they have a game night there on certain nights. That is right in West Market Square.
