With this law passing is there oppurtunity for local Maine farmers to grow a certified medical marijuana crop to sell for profit? Does anyone know how this is going to work?

A month ago I would have said no because with it still against the Federal Laws, there was not much one could do. Even if the state said okay, the Fed would shut you down. The new administration however just reported that they have no intention of enforcing the law in states that are okay with it.

So no one really knows.

My farm won't grow that stuff that is for sure...the cows and sheep won't touch it! (LOL)

Sounds like you have first-hand experience with growing it.

Hopefully someone can make a few dollars providing it for those who need it. Someday it will most likely be legal but by then the government will probably own all of the farms anyway.

Growing it here would make our 13 marauding raccoons seem like a picnic. You can't live trap human garden raiders... you can't, right?

Never though of that aspect of it. How about hydroponics in a locked barn?

They haven't even got a plan in place for dispensaries yet. There's a story in The BDN. They have this under DHHS, now they want a task force and to make some changes. This isn't going to happen overnight.

Before you know it, we'll have every deadbeat already on welfare, crazy checks and Mainecare receiving their buzz on our dime. We already pay the Methadone junkies 41 cents a mile to hitch hike to the clinic for their daily dose. Gives 'em the extra income for high gravity beer and ciggs!

You have to pay for the Marijuana in dispensaries. There is a very short list of issues for which you can be issued a Medical Marijuana ID card in Maine, and you must have a Dr.'s refferal to get one. If it becomes available I'll be in line.
Honestly, it would be so much easier to just legalize it.

That's about 2/3 of the population now isn't it?
