Corgis,

If I may ask, what made you choose Eastport? In my wife and my case, we had been traveling to MDI since about 1974(my daughter has a special birth related connection), so it just got in our blood.

I've been going to Maine since 1964 - I've seen a lot of idyllic places but Eastport just spoke to me. We are not high maintenance people, we don't need to be entertained and we are from a small town in WV and were looking for a similiar town in Maine. We wanted to be on the water, not too far from a town's amenties - grocery, post office, restaurants, gas station, medical clinic and so forth. These are all on the island where Eastport is located.

We bought an old house 6 years ago and I spend every summer fixing one room at a time in that old house. My husband will retire in 2011 and we hope to have all the work done by the time we move up there.

That's a lot like us with MDI, event to the retirement date. We live in a rural place that takes 6 miles to the nearest food store, 8 miles to the nearest restaurant. Serious Mall shopping is not something we do regularly, so an infrequent trip 40 miles away to a mall is good enough. A real theater is also a 35-40 min drive. Many of the things we will have in MDI, we don't have where we live now! And I've found 95% of the people I've met in MDI to be just plain nice!

If you wanna come south a couple of hours after we're both in Maine in summer of 2011, we'd love to have guests in BH.

And there are a bunch waiting for you two to become permanent fixtures here. I for one am tired of seeing that house dark on my way home from work. Happy Thanksgiving to you and Ray

Awwwww! - we miss you all so much, it's much sooner now than it used to be when we first got there. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours also.
