The country will never go bankrupt so long as it can print money and give it away to the too-big-to-fail Wall Street Robber Barons.

To the OP: You should be aware that not everyone thinks Maine taxes are high. Some posters here on CD think their tax burden is lower that it was elsewhere before they moved to Maine.

Yeah because they used to live in Europe where 60% taxes and higher is normal.

I will admit to not really giving a thought to state taxes.

How much are we really talking here? Rather than talking about percentage rates, if I were to figure its going to cost me 1k more per year in taxes, if I divide it by 12 that means I have to figure on an additional $83 per month.

The nicer neighborhoods in Phx have Homeowners associations that cost as much or more. Are those common in Maine?

I would prefer paying taxes to the state or city than paying a group of nazi's to babysit the neighborhood and enforce rules on paint colors, plant choices, and what I'm allowed to have in my own backyard.

Are most people going to experience that drastic of a difference of more than $1,000 per year if they are just earning a modest middle class income of under 100k?

I know it depends on where you come from, and you may not feel like you get what you pay for being its a rural state, but beyond those points, is it more crippling financially than what I am thinking here?

Oh, but if only that were true. I'm hoping we don't see the collapse of the US dollar in the near future. The amount of money being printed compared to the amount of debt this admnistration is he77 bent on creating could have you living like you're in Rwanda.

Most rentals in Maine don't have dishwashers or washer/dryers or garbage disposals unless they are new units.
