Do you prefer the white meat or dark meat from a turkey?
I'm a white meat guy but my wife is dark meat all the way.
My brothers both prefer dark but my kids like white. It works out in the long run. Which do you prefer??

We only buy turkey breasts.

The dark meat has all the saturated fat.

As kids, we were made to eat the dark meat when we had a large crowd. All the kids ate the legs, thighs, etc. Years later, my dad finally had a piece of thigh and flipped! He said, all these years I've been having the kids eat the dark meat and it's juicier and has more flavor!! haha

But I love duck, goose, and a deep cabernet. I guess it's the french or portugese side of me! Whatever it is, I'm glad for it!

I don't mind the white, but it is drier.

You never had the turkeys we raised. I put the fat and finish feed to them until they could barely stand up. The had a big layer of fat on them that made them self basting. The white meat was so juicy you could wring the juice out of it. It was superb!

I only have turkey once a year, so I'm not worried about what's got what for calories or fat.

I like turkey. We buy the sliced breast "cutlets" and eat those about once every two weeks. DW makes a kind of sweet and sour cranberry sauce for the cutlets that is excellent. I know white wine is appropriate for foul but I like a good Merlot with the turkey!! I'm looking forward to Turkey Day!

I'd rather have duck. I'm such a hedonist! lol I am looking forward to the holiday too. First time I'm having it in my home with my family in 10 years. Many years of bopping around the country as an army wife, and then traipsing to my daughters or her DH's family to make it easier on them. Finally the timing is right for it to be here. I'm SO excited!!!

My favorite part is the visiting, the noshing, the rush to get it all together when it's all ready, and enjoying a fine meal with those I love most.

Happy Thanksgiving T~. Enjoy yours. I know you will.
