I vote (from my internet listening all the way across USA) for Presque Isle's WOZI. Man, great tunes ALL day/night long. Ok, this is an off the wall thread, I know, but man I just had to give it up for that classic rock staion, The Rock!

Ok, you Mainers what votes & for whom do you think is THE best rock station in the state? I know, I'm old, haha but pop/today's music doesn't really enthuse me much & so gimme the classic 60-80s rock n roll & that seems still to me to be -- the best there was, is & ever WILL be.

I grew up in Presque Isle so I should support WOZI, but I'll put in my vote for WBLM. I do like WOZI though even though most of it is pumped in from out of market.

If a heavier brand of rock is your thing, it's hard to beat TOS. Their signal covers such a large area that extends into Quebec and New Hampshire. I guess it just depends on what you're looking for.

I like 100.3 WKIT the best. So many great memories listening to that station!

That would describe radio nationwide, I have not listened to music on broadcast radio in 10 years, it's just terrible.

my opinion

105.1 wtos (the mountain) head banging hard rock

102.9 wblm -they started nearby where i live in litchfield in the 70's
they play mostly rock- some newer stuff once in a while..probly the most popular station in southern maine

107.5 frank fm is fairly new,,,,classic rock,,which i like.. they and blm are out of portland
"frank" recruited mark persky (sp?) from blm's captain and marks morning show - very popular when franks came on the air..

95.7 from augusta area, to downeast to central northern maine, is mostly classic rock...

as is 93.5, 94.5, 92.9\, 104.7, 97.7, 104.3, 102.1, 102.5 100.3 (trying to remember radio settings thru the years)

wblm is a station that most in central-southern/southern maine grew up with... i remember as teenagers out in the quarries in hallowell, with some narragansett beer and boonesfarm jumping off the cliffs and swimming, listening to wblm from loud car speakers and bonfires at night..30 yrs ago

if we could have a radio at work going, wblm was the station and still is in many places.

107.5 has way too much yap-yap for my taste, especially in the mornings. Too much obnoxious DJ talk and not enough music. And I think they only have about 60 songs that they play over and over and over and over. And someone at that station likes Journey WAAAAY too much.

102.9 is okay. Still too much Journey, and I think they play "Takin' Care of Business" at least 3 times a day.
