Hi I read a post recently on this board and now can't find it that the internet is "terrible" in Maine.

Is that seriously the case in ALL of Maine?

We are potentially thinking of retiring to somewhere on the Maine Coast - Bath, Rockland, Portland, Kennebunk, Camden, Ogunquit.

I have an internet business and that would be suicide if that statement the poster made is true.

Can anyone confirm, please?

You might have read posts by me, regarding our searching for property.... but we were specifically NOT looking on the coast, but in the much less populated interior, north and east of Bangor.

I was not at all interested in living on the coast, so I did not research that area at all... perhaps someone else can speak regarding the places you have mentioned.

I live in Belfast and have great internet. I think it has only been down one time since I signed up for it 2 years ago.

There are places way back in the woods that have T1 lines. There are suburbs that are still on dial-up. You just need to ask around.

How's internet service in coastal regions of Waldo, Hancock, and Washington counties . . .

Is it reliable?

Is it cable and/or DSL?

Anyone know?

This all depends on where you are looking. It can vary as close as 1 mile apart.

Thanks--but I already heard about that.

But what I'd like to know is this:

Generally, is it possible to get reliable and fast (cable or dsl) internet in at least some parts of coastal Waldo, Hancock, and Washington counties?
