Snowy icy roads are apart of Maine in the winter and this is just a reminder to be careful and drive safely.
while on slippery roads dont think because you have a 4x4 you are exempt from leaving the road.the other night driving from limestone to home i counted 36 vehicles off the road.17 were SUVs .so slow down pay attention and have a safe drive.98% of Americans say oh sh%t before leaving the road and going in the ditch, the other 2% are from Maine and say hold my beer and watch this.be safe folks.

But I have 4WD!?!?! Why can't I stop fast and straight?!?!? 4WD only helps you get moving; not stopping. Good advice Ranger.

Reminds me of the one about "what's the last thing that goes through a June Bug's mind as it slams into your windshield?....his tail end!

When I was working at Telford I would see them on 95 quite a bit in the winter sitting down the banking. Majority of the time it was large 4x4s. Would have loved to see a hummer but didn't.

LOL!!

Last week in the storm someone I know didn't want to leave work early for the long drive home. She has an SUV, "no problem". The Mainers, of course, took the opportunity to leave early. I said to DH at the time "oh she's one of those I-have-an-SUV-I-can-drive-through-anything people". She made it home safely--that night. Sunday night, however, was a different story--rolled her SUV and totaled it. People like that shouldn't be allowed to drive in a rainstorm, let alone a Maine winter. They're dangerous to everyone on the road.

We spend too much time, as humans go, trying to get everything done fast. My analogy is that we stand in front of the microwave, tapping our foot, and staring at our watch. The same goes for driving. How often do people say "It takes you how long to get to _______? Ican do it in _____ ."

Funny, everyone complains about the speedy driver, when it seems to me the person driving 10 under is just as dangerous with people piling up behind them.
