The Maine School of Science and Mathematics used Route 1 for a science project to show relative distances from the Sun to the outermost planet, which was at the time, Pluto. Some activist group got Pluto decertified. Then another planet was discovered beyond Pluto and it even has a moon. The kids went back to work and the outermost solar system object is now in Topsfield. Check the link:

It's a neat thing to look at. I never made it far enough to see it all. Plus I missed a few driving.

The solar project wasn't done by the Maine School of Math and Science in Limestone, it was a project done by the University of Maine at Presque Isle. MSSM referred to in the article stands for Maine Solar System Model.
Harder than the math involved was actually building and painting the fiberglass planets.
