I agree moughie....we considered a move this past Spring....we didn't go, but it isn't a bad thing to have new experiences and live in other parts of the country! For most people it doesn't make Maine any less of their "home" because they left, and you will usually find that they excitedly wait for the opportunity to return, even if it's only for a visit.

I live in Wilton. If you like skiing or snowboarding....Sugarloaf is about an hour away. Quiet here with a low crime rate. Excellent park for kids...and/or adults. Univ. of Farmington is about 10 min away in Farmington. Lots of little shops. Closest city is probably augusta. Thats about 1/2 hour from here. We are contemplating moving to Tennessee. Only because taxes are high here and the heating oil is outrages.

Hi there:
My family and I live in Plant City FL. I am originally from Brazil but lived in Utah for over 20 years because my husband is from there. I don't mind Florida... it certainly is easier on my RA, which really bothered me in the long Utah winters. Florida, however, is too hot and I can see how unhappy my husband is living here. He misses the cool weather, the change of seasons, the scent on pine trees, and so on. After leaving Utah, I thought I'd never miss cold weather again... but I do. We want to build a log home... not possible in Florida. I want to be close to a city as I am a technical writer and will need to work. Right now we live in a rural area close to a small town. We hear that Maine is just the right thing for us. I love the sea, my husband loves the mountains. Any suggestions for us. We have a 12 year old, who would need to be happy, too. ;o)
thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum. I've been to Plant City, when the Cincinnati Reds had spring training there in the Marge Schott era. Sounds like Raymond might be a good spot for you, marina. It's about 40 minutes from Portland and there are lots available for your dream home. It's also in the "Lakes Area" of Maine and near the mountains, yet close enough to the ocean. Windham is the next town over, with plenty to do for a 12 year old.
