SO TRUE! Yes I am shouting that. If I am going to have something done that I either just don't want to, don't have time to, or am too busy to do something at home; I will get a couple of prices and toss out the high and low right off the bat. Low forgot something or cutting a corner, and the high is too busy and doesn't want it, or just gouging. Then look at the middle ones and chose the best package. I guess that comes from WAY too many years in the trades myself. Up here I know who is going to do it right and who is going to treat me right for price, so it has been a long time sense I have gotten prices from a few people, but thought I would throw out there how I personally have chose a contractor.

Hunting season isn't in February, is it? No, we didn't bargain hunt. We've built houses before without any issues. It was just a whole different world. Don't get me wrong...everything finally turned out okay (after we fired the contractor and got someone else), but it was a long, arduous, expensive process.

We are log home lovers
I want to build a log home... maybe in Maine in the next year or two. Does anyone know of a good log home builder?
Thanks!

Moosehead Ceadar Log Homes...
Do a lot of research though. Log siding is very cool for the effect. Talk with a lot of log home owners. If you are dreaming of the log home life you see in the magazines, it can sometimes be a disappointment. Good lick!

Has to be a log home
Hi everyone...
I wouldn't be against buying a log home that is already built. That may be easier than building one from the ground up. The problem is finding one up for sale. People tend to hold on to those homes. My husband and I are stuck on the idea of the a log home. Log siding is not for us. We love the scent of pine or cedar inside the home. Thanks for your replies!

Jobs in Maine
Hello,
I was thinking about moving to Maine but am nervous about the job market. I look on all the major web sites, such as Monster, Career Builder, etc. but I am not finding much. I am an Administrative Assistant. How hard is it in general to find a job in Maine?

It is harder to find a job via WWW, as compared to standing in an employer's doorway.
I am a "The bong is half-full" kind of guy, so I would say come up and give it your best effort.

Good to have you here! Have you tried the local job services? Maine Career Center might be useful. The Bangor Daily News lists jobs. And, there's Jobs in Maine. Bonney matched a friend with a job 200 miles away when she was trying to move.
Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor allows you to apply for jobs online.
Good luck!
