Seeking house rental in Damariscotta/Newcastle, Maine
Hi--My family of four is seeking a house to rent in Damariscotta or Newcastle, Maine, starting in July 1. We are relocating. Children, ages 10 & 15 need to attend Great Salt Bay and Lincoln Academy. My husband and I are natives of the area; he is a college administrator and I work for a non-profit that serves families raising children with special needs in the midcoast region. We have a crate-trained dog and a very old cat. Some special needs--
Thanks for any leads!

Rentals seem somewhat difficult here in Maine, or at least that is my experience. However, there are one or two real estate brokers that appear to have the market in the area. Do a google for the county or even Damariscotta and you'll probably get some hits.
Also, I'll check one site another Mainer sent me in a minute when I find their url.
Here's the url: me.living.net
You might also check Jared & Cohn. I know they have properties around Belfast and Camden, and may also have some leads on other areas. Everyone in Maine is helpful in making referrals if they don't have property themselves.
Good luck!

msina,
Do you know if the site you mentioned includes current listings? - I saw some that had comments like "full for the 2003" season. It's a great site but it seems like it might not be getting updated - I'd be happy to be wrong about that part..

I am NOT sure how frequently it's updated. There are a lot with phone numbers though, might be worth a shot to try a few.
