True, but I'm sure broadbill is going to have a fantastic answer for me. There must be a locally made clothing store behind a maple tree that I've some how missed in the last 17 years. I'm looking forward to a shopping spree!

No fantastic answer here. I was just pointing out that we can all extoll the virtues of shopping locally, but putting it into practice in other matter. Especially in a more rural area.

That doesn't apply to the comment I made. Bringselpup said:

The price of gas out here in the sticks at this family run establishment is usually 5 to 7 cents cheaper/gal than what I see in Belfast, Waterville, or Augusta.

We splurged tonight and ordered steak and cheese subs. I called ahead and left my first name only. I walked in the store and went to the cooler for ice cream. The deli person picked up my subs and brought them to the front counter without me saying a word.

Who needs Costco?
And I said:

Seems to me bringselpup shopped locally without difficulty. The comment you replied to said I might not throw away a catalog from Cabela's if they don't charge sales tax on clothes that are delivered. Following along with the conversation that you commented on, I cannot buy clothes locally. When I can shop locally I do. My business depends on people who shop locally. I faithfully return the same.

I thought of Goodwill last night and wish they were local. I need wool sweaters for outdoor work this winter. I don't need to go to Bangor until our lunch at Sea Dog. I'm going to leave early so I can shop. We do have a Marden's. The Calais store is filthy but I did get my favorite wool sweater there. J Crew, brand new, $6.50. It has been well worn and been dirty but washes up well.

Indeed I am more than thrilled to find all these local stores offering deals I can't beat at Hannafords etc.

The chicken I spoke of came from the Hilltop in Knox.

I have shopped Wentworths, in fact we met a friend for breakfast at Ralphs in Brooks this morning.
