Well, I live in Oregon, and in a word, it is lovely. I have been researching Maine for a job, and I must agree, it sounds very nice. However, after seeing so many people move to Oregon because it "feels right" only to see the dream sour after they wander into the mire of insolvency, only to limp back home, I would strongly encourage you to get all your ducks in a row. Sometimes you just have to follow your heart and leap, but as they say, ....look out below!

Best wishes to you and your family though, and keep everyone posted.

Have you thought about a doctor for your mother and living close to one you are happy with? My good friend lived in Ellsworth and because of his son's health issues found himself driving 2 1/2 hrs to Portland several times a year...not saying this would be true for you, but it's something to consider. Have you thought about renting for awhile to allow time to check out a specific area(s)? I am sure there are arguments for and against renting for a time vs. buying a home immediately.

A neighborhood, where kids go Trick or Treating, you can visit your neighbors ( without taking the car ), you can walk your dog.
You have a grocery store within 5 or 8 miles.
You can get fresh milk and eggs from neighborhood farms ( or at least close by ).
We don't want CITY, but we don't want to feel isolated.
Does this place exist. We are coming to Maine soon to choose where to live and don't want to waste time looking at places that wouldn't be right for us. THANKS!
Today?

25March 2010?

mmm, may I have drank too much this evening, if so, if I am completely wrong, then do please forgive me.

Didn't we play this game ago?

Déjà vu all over again?

We did not get into posting on CD until after we had made our move, that was in 2005.

We are very glad to have made that decision.

You are so right Forest , we've been through this before. We let others talk us into doing what was right for THEM.
I started asking about Maine in August of 2007. If this Gemini still wants to move to the same place 3 years later it must have something.

I apologize if I have asked the same questions over again. Every one that answers bring a different perspective.
I suppose if you are tired of me asking you could just move on to someone else's question.
As much as I value your opinion Forest, I don't want to annoy you.

Good point indeed

We have enjoyed our transition to Maine.

I can only assume that you will enjoy it yourself.

It often takes longer than we wish to get where we want to be. I hope things work out well and you finally find a place you'll be happy in.
