I hope to go out to camp tomorrow with the Kubota and blow out the driveway. It was 9 above here this morning and there is still plenty of ice on the lake.

It's only 35 degrees here and I'd be fishing if it were 20-25 degrees warmer! Bundling up to ice fish is one thing , I refuse to dress heavily to dunk worms in a stream!
The ice is out just about everywhere in Southern Maine save for a few places that seldom get any sunshine. The brooks are running fairly clear and continue to settle after last weeks 4 inches of rain. The ducks of spring have returned and more and more geese are showing up at the pond behind the house every day. The deer ticks are already out in force and people must use their summer and fall tick locating and disposal tactics now whenever they venture out in the Southern Maine woods. My stepson took his two kids out for a walk last week and when they returned the kids picked a good many ticks off each other and several off their dog. Even a walk on a fairly open trail wll yeild several of the little bloodsuckers on the unsuspecting. Be aware!
