There is a good chance elevations above 2000' will see snow this weekend.

The poor people of Maine had a rough one in 1816

And it looks like folks in the Kenduskeag Canoe and kayak race will have a cold day of it. NOT a day to dump the boat! brrr...

I am not looking forward, even, to standing on the shore waiting to photograph my client coming down stream.

We talked about the winter of 1816 over this morning's coffee break! How will the current volcanic activity in Iceland affect world weather, we wondered. I found an interesting article that gets to the point I was interested in: how volcanoes affect world climate. Here 'tis for those interested.

All-around interesting times we are living in - stay tuned!

We had so much hail this afternoon that the ground turned white.

Guess the cold air is coming! Any thunder with that hail?

We're in for a cold week according to the NWS. I hope we don't get a crappy spring and summer again....I'll move to Arizona if we do.

No thunder. It didn't take long for the sun to come out, wind to die down and everything to dry up again. After having 60-70* days it's hard for me to remember that it is still April and it's not supposed to be hot yet. I don't want a crappy summer either but if it happens, I'm ready this time.

Talking but not so strange...

that the rhubarb isn't ready! Well, I'm pushing it a wee bit...but I managed to cut enough brilliant red little spears to make a bowl of stewed rhubarb for after supper. Just a little water, a shot of cinnamon, and a couple, three pinches of brown sugar. It.....is.......gone now!

We're all supposed to see a little snow on the ground by the end of the weekend. More like the Aprils I remember.

This time of year I've always heard it(snow) called "poor man's fertilizer".
