[SIZE=2][SIZE=2]Moving from Atlanta...my husband works in Baltimore. I am working in Annapolis.

The area in we used to live in was the "yuppie" area I guess you could say. I could be living at home by myself without worrying overnight... leave my car running for whatever reason without worrying it will get stolen... come home at 4am and walk into my house with worrying about safety... or just walk around my neighborhood at that time without worry... I think you get the idea
At the same time... everything was within a 5-10 min drive from home... near a nice big mall that pretty much had every store/restaurant you could imagine somewhere in the vicinity...

I'm not looking for somewhere "walkable"... in the south you have to drive to get to everything... nothing is walkable except visiting your neighbor so that is something I am more than used to...

My main concern is safety... I've heard horror stories about the crime here which has probably made me over paranoid...
I don't want to be in the middle of nowhere... I can't afford to pay an arm and a leg but I realize the drastic price differences between here and Atlanta so I just want to get the best deal for what I am looking for... so there isnt really a budget

Being a new graduate in her 20s I obviously want to go out at night once I meet some friends. I am more than okay with driving 30min+ to get to these areas so it doesn't really have to be closeby...

So far I've look at Glen Burnie because it was right in between Baltimore and Annapolis. I didn't really feel that I would be as safe there as I would like... I looked at Odenton... safe but not really close to anything... while I am okay with driving to get where I need to go... odenton literally had nothing there besides piney orchards...

I really really like Annapolis... huge mall... towne center... anything and everything is pretty much there... would it be a horrible drive to Baltimore? where would u recommend renting that would be close enough to the mall/towne center area (5-10 min drive)... yet safe and hopefully not breaking the bank? or are there any other areas you would recommend that may fit my criteria?

Atlanta is very much a black and white city... you have good areas and bad areas... the good ones are quite far from the bad ones so its pretty easy to pick out the safe places to live. I think the trouble I am having here is you can have a great safe city... but you may live down the street from public housing/section8 making the specific area where you are not so safe?

We are only looking to rent because we are only in Maryland temporarily for the next two years or so... so any apartment communities you could recommend would be great as well

Thanx!!
