During Howard's homecoming on Baltimore radio they were promoting a party at BWX nightclub saying we have the party right here you dont have to go to Washington,DC. Im like really its that serious.
I think that has a lot to do with the state the franchises are in. When the Redskins were good, the fans were much more passionate about supporting the team. They would probably tell people that the Redskins are a better team, but now that the Redskins are awful, there is no reason to really talk trash. The Redskins fan have been humbled and know that their place is not to talk trash about a team that has been consistently better and has won a Super Bowl more recently than them.
It is important to remember that the Skins and Ravens are in different conferences and only play each other every 4 years. Other than geography, there isn't much of a rivalry there. And alot of NFL fans will watch whatever games are on TV, and in Maryland this often means the Ravens and Skins.
The real anomisity should be between the Ravens and the Steelers in Western Maryland, but weirdly even though that rivalry is among the ugliest in football, Ravens fans up here don't have the same hatred of the Steelers, well most of them. This is because he have been getting Steelers games on TV for as long as I have been alive. I only hate the Steelers 2 (sometimes 3) weeks a year, the rest of the time I wish them well....well enough to finish behind the Ravens in the standings

...and by the way, I watched the Ravens/Steelers game a few Sundays ago.
Ravens were amazing to watch...loved that defense.
With two teams like that, especially if you're getting good coverage of both, I'd think it would be easy to like both.
For thanksgiving me and my family are going to have our annual Terrible Towel burning ceremony!! I despise the steelers and am so glad we beat them at Ketchup field!!
I grew up around DC, I've always supported DC teams, but I don't mind the Ravens at all. Hell each year I feel more and more compelled to start supporting them since the Deadskins can't get their act together.
Baltimore fans dislike the Skins because, when Baltimore was trying for an expansion team, Jack kent Cooke connived with Paul Tagliabue to keep Baltimore from getting one, even though they had the best offer. Then there is also the fact that, when the Colts left, there was no way any Baltimore fans could get season tickets for the Skins, because of the waitlist.
Any Cleveland fans hating on the Modells should also be hating the Skins and Tagliabue(now trying to get into the HOF) as well. If Baltimore had received an expansion team, the Browns might never have gotten a good enough deal to leave.
[quote=Zippy7fo;940585] 4. Baltimore is a basketball town. More college and nba talent come out of that city than any other on the east coast except for maybe philly and ny...

says who??? i read an article a couple years ago when kevin durant and mike beasly was comin out in ESPN titled "is PG the new basketball mecca" we have more talent in the NBA then any other area in the country
Everyone on here is wrong about Montgomery & PG being solid Redskins territory. I'd say the Redskins are the only team where a majority of fans in their home area root against them. The Maryland DC suburbs, DC and NOVA have tons of Cowboys, Ravens and Steelers fans in that order. Its because the area is so transient that there are many people from all over so there are good numbers of fans of all the popular teams. Growing up in Montgomery, literally half the kids I knew were fans of other teams. If I had to compare them to countries, Ravens territory would be like Poland where everyone is Polish while Redskins territory would be like Switzerland where theyres just a huge mishmash.
i dunoo where you actually live at but redskins overwhelming dominate the area. second would be cowgirl fans but majority are just fans for attention and honestly its not that many they're just always the loudest lol.. and u do have your steelers fans too but thats expected when your the most winning franchise..
the top 3 largest fanbases in the NFL are 1.cowboys 2. steelers 3. redskins(which is crazy since we aint won **** in 20 yrs lol
as far as the ravens.. im cool wit em i dont think there is a hatred from redskins fans towards ravens as it is vice versa..actually i think most redskins fans i kno respect the ravens becasue yall have success and won a superbowl in 2000.. i know i was rooting for the ravens back in the superbowl
to me it seems like AA county is like 70% ravens and 30%redskins
as for the orioles..i think dc area accepted that team because they was winning back then..if they was losing i doubt folks from viginia would be driving all the way to camden yards

I agree, in Hagerstown it's about 60% Steelers fans and 40% Ravens fans.Although the Steelers have been around longer so that would make sense.....As to Ravens and Redskins.I haven't really found Redskins fans to dislike Ravens for any reason but we're a better team (No offense to Redskins fans). And a lot of them do watch the Ravens too because they're close by and a good team.Baltimore and DC are just very different,Baltimore is a huge city but it's not that known and not nearly as known or recognized nationally as DC is,And in a sense I guess that's why Baltimore sticks to Baltimore.Where as DC is just DMV.If that makes any sense....
Also In Bethesda and Gaithersburg I'd say that's really Redskins territory,Everyone I know from there is a huge Redskins fan and just kinda likes the Ravens. Anywhere else is Maryland is all Ravens and then Western Maryland is a mix of Steelers and Ravens.
