Forest Glen Area (safe area, school district, living)

Can anybody tell me about the area right around the Forest Glen metro?? Is this a safe area? What school district is this in? What middle school? Is this a good middle school? The place I'm looking at is about a half-mild north east of the metro. I am working right around Union Station, so the commute aspect is great, but I will have a family, with a child in middle school and want to be safe. Thanks for your help.

That area isn't a bad area. I actually spent about 6 years of my youth living there (in the 80's). The schools are good schools and it is very convienent to shopping (Wheaton Mall), Transportation (metrorail, bus), large physician complexes just a 1/2-1 mile up Georgia Ave. and a hospital is right on Forest Glen Road. Because of all of this convienence, expect that the cost of housing is higher there also (ie - probably around 550K + for a single family home).

I cannot recall the elementary schools name, but the Middle School is called Sligo Middle and I believe the high school is Einstein.
