Move to Rockville from Phoenix AZ
Didn't get many suggestions on my last post though the one I got was very useful and helpful.
Well, I am considering apartments in the Rockville area and will like to know which ones to be contacting. Are the apartment communities better or are their stand -alones, which areas are best for a 22yr old college graduate. I will also be taking part-time classes at JHU in Rockville so proximity will be appreciated.
Please suggest your opinions even if it's not directly related to my question.
It's kind of unnerving to relocate (from Phoenix) and I don't want to make mistakes or regret any decisions. Whatever can be useful information for a college grad (working and attending grad school part-time) will be appreciated, like info about way of life in the city, demeanor of residents, outlook, activities, traffic and public transport, basically any useful info will be honored.
Thanks and have a wonderful week.

I'm not sure what your price range is, but there are a few apartment communities very close to the JHU Rockville "campus" at Falls Grove. You can easily walk to the campus from there, and there are plenty of restaurants and other amenities nearby.
Good luck!

If you want to be near JHU there are several unique rentals available in the Fallsgrove and King Farm communities - both of these areas are very nice newer upscale communities. These rentals have max income limits.
Apartment communities can offer a little more flexibility as far as : having a selection of units available at any given time, able to provide model units to show even if one isn't ready to rent, more likely that rent includes utilities.
On the other hand, an individual 'condo' that is rented may be in a 'nicer' location, be surrounded by owner occupied properties, etc.
A lot of it depends on your price range.

Rockville is great, no doubt about that. However, be prepared for some expensive places. Otherwise you'll end up living in the "barrios".

Falls Grove? Too expensive for a 22-yr-old probably...I would check out like some junky apartments like Fields of Rockville or Fireside.

My daughter and her husband lived in Fireside for a while while they were saving up. It was fine

When I first moved this area I lived in Halpine View Apartments off Twinbrook Pkwy. It was fairly decent for the price and was walking distance to the Twinbrook Metro.
Montgomery County also has a Moderately Priced Dwelling Program where you can lease certain apartments for below market value based on your income. Here's more information:

The move was pretty okay and smooth. I also got a great deal renting in an owner occupied condo community very close to work and JHU. I really can't complain. So happens one of the three owners (close to me age-wise) got married and needed a replacement. That's a viable option. The area is very serene and nice. I still getting used to the change though. And it's true, it's a bit expensive but really not that bad. Thanks for all the suggestions.
