For you BRAC folks, welcome! We moved to Elkton, Cecil County 11 years ago for a business relocation and found it to be just what we wanted. A family oriented place close to major cities ( Baltimore and Philly are each an hour away) but a wonderful rural small town feel. We love the Nature Center for walks and picnics, the farm stands for fresh produce, and the sense of home. We were welcomed by our neighbors with pies and cakes ( really!) and felt a part of the community immediately. The real estate taxes are lower than some of your other choices so for buyers it is a good choice. There are fewer rental options so if you are renting maybe Harford Co would be a better choice. Schools as , well public schools. There are several good private schools in the county. my husband and I both have advanced graduate degrees as do our neighbors so the image of countyr bumpkins in Cecil does not realy hold. I hope that you wil consider cecil for your move, we were reticent at first with the image of uneducated racisit folks but when we looked at the area, especially Elkton and Northeast, we found these to be unfounded.

Thank you for all your advice but we have decided to settle in Port Deposit. Not far from APG - 9 miles or so.. and closer to my kids in NJ - 2 hour ride. We love the farming area... reminds us of old Jackson NJ - 20 years ago. Not into Malls - mail order is the best! Only really worried about fresh meat - hopefully there will be a butcher in the area. Can wait to get there... while in contract and haggling back and forth, the house was appraised lower than the asking price - so it went short sale... waiting for the paperwork to go through. Hopefully soon!

Default Home for sale in beautiful Havre de Grace, Md

Hi all and welcome to APG! My wife and I are selling our Townhome that we have lived in since it was built 12 yrs ago. Since returning from Iraq in 2008 we have sank almost 30K into totally remodeling it from top to bottom. It truly is a great deal for the area and the condition its in. One of the best things about it that my agent can't say in her add is, that it's in an area that allows your kid to go to one of the nicest elementary schools in Harford County: MEADOWVALE! look it up on line and see the rating. Check out the link: 138 GRACECROFT DRIVE, Havre de Grace MD 21078, MLS #HR7517981, Weichert.com

It's located at: 138 Gracecroft Drive, Havre de Grace MD. 21078

Approx. 7-10 minutes from the employee gate at APG! 2 min. from the waterfront and great dining and antiques.

Fact: Havre de Grace barely lost out to Washington D.C. in being our nations capital.

My agent is Maria Fothergill of Century21 Cell: 410-937-1330 We bought if from her originally 12 yrs ago and most recently our new home as well. She's a lovely lady!

You can tell her the owner "Nick" posted this.

I think North East is nice, it is on the water and has a more relaxed atmosphere
