Not sure where you are working. But me and my girlfriend both live in Federal Hill, Baltimore and work in Anne Arundel County. 30 minutes to Annapolis never any traffic, 20 minutes to Severna Park, 10 minutes to Glen Burnie.

Federal Hill is very safe, and in 8 years of living here, I am yet to get to all the things I can get to by foot (Ballparks, bars, restaurants, museums, water activities, etc). There is three huge parks in the neighborhood, as well as smaller ones, and a really cool dog park, so there are tons of dogs and Bulldogs down here. I have several friends from NY who have made this there permanent home, as well as another on the way.

The best thing about Columbia is it's proximity to Washington and Baltimore. Unless you have kids and want a nice place to raise a family, Columbia is a very nice bedroom community. Annapolis is nice but a totally different vibe than NYC.

On second thought, if you are the country club type, you may enjoy Columbia. Plenty of golfing and tennis. Not sure about the country club scene though.

Im a bit confused by your post. We do have kids but hate the country club scene. Prefer water and beaches and cultural happenings.are you saying Columbia is or is not a nice place to raise a family?

And are you saying Columbia is or is not good for country club scene?

really need feedback from insiders. Thanks.
