Hello-

I'm moving to from CA to Md (got a job in DC) in the next couple of months. I'm trying to decide where to settle and hopefully you folks can lend a hand.

Here are some questions and criteria:

1) Which has better ranking schools? I got a 4 yr old that will be going to Kinder next year.

2) Which has safer neighborhoods, greater parks and etc..?

3) I'm planning to commute to DC which offers better public transportation?

4) I'll be renting for a little while. What location offers better apt.

Thank you all for taking the time to respond. Your suggestion is golden!

J

Rockville (to the west of it mostly) wins 3 out of 4. Both have Metro. Driving from Silver Spring would be better.

You're going to have to look up individual schools, but they're very good in Montgomery county. Most in the areas I mentioned previously would be very good.

I don't think there are any buses directly from Columbia to Rockville. But you might drive to the Park-and-Ride stop at the corner of Norbeck and Georgia Avenue, or see if Montgomery General Hospital has any public parking nearby. From either place, the 52 Ride-On buses go into downtown Rockville. You would have to check route maps to see if your workplace is on a bus route. Here's a map: http://www.wmata.com/pdfs/bus/MD.pdf The Ride-on schedules are here: http://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/ts...deonroutes.asp
