I bought a car in Maryland a couple of weeks. I paid 6% sales tax. Now I have to move to NC, where the tax is 3% under highway usage tax. If I change my title to NC, can I get the 3% difference refund? Thanks!

hi,
I think you won't get such refund, because the day you bought that car, that car sinking value began to increase and even if you sold the car on very next day, you wouldn't get the refund for you car, You will always get something less than what you actually paid from your pocket. Because It is now a used car.

No refund from MD, and you will probably also have to pay the tax again to NC. Check NC laws to make sure, but if the situation were reversed and you had paid the 3% to NC and were now moving to MD, you would have to pay the 6% to MD to re-title the car here.
