Default Howard County Developments

Hey everybody. I am new transplant to MD. Been here a few weeks. Currently renting for a few mths and have just started my home search. Looking for a TH in Howard County (300-350K range). Anyway, due to the slow market right now there's a lot of properties available (good thing for a buyer like myself). However, I am new to the area and could use some insight from natives or long time residents of MD (Howard County in particular). I am working with a realtor but it doesn't hurt to have additional info. from an objective source (i.e., you guys). Can anyone recommend or give me the scoop on some developments in Howard County? Some areas I've seen/heard about are Bowling Brook and Brightfield. I'm a relatively young professional that desires a neighborhood with the same. So if you recommend any subdivisions I should look at in Elkridge, Columbia, or Ellicott City (in my price range, ofcourse) I'd really appreciate it. Thanks. Love this site!!!

Brightfield is a decent area- but beware of water damage. We looked at a few places over there , and most of them had it. My brother in law recently bought a house over there that is really nice, though. Across rte 103 is Lyndwood. [CUT] It's a bit of a nicer neighborhood- smaller and not as crowded, and the schools are a little better, even though it's literally almost across the street. [CUT]
