Default Choosing between Rockville and Bethesda

I'm buying a condo in the area, and am trying to decide between pretty comparable ones in Bethesda and Rockville.

One thing that I'm looking at is which will be worth more in about 5 years, when I plan on moving out. The one in Rockville is about $40,000 more than the one in Bethesda right now, but I think i can get a better deal on the one in Rockville.

It is located in Rockville town square, and the other one is located in Bethesda right near the White Flint Mall on Rt. 355.

I know Rockville Town Square is up and coming, so it may be hard to predict. But any idea which would be worth more in about 5 years which would help my decision a lot.

Thanks

Good question.....Its tough because both area's carry similar demographics. But if I had to choose I would go with Rockville. Much more corporate presence and a ton of development along the 270 corridor thats gonna feed into Rockville. The real key is actually what location is closets to a Metro stop. Being that oil is gonna continue to rise and our governemtn/energy giants have pretty much done nothing to alleviate the problems for close to 40 years now its gonna impact housing prices near Metro stops....

Default White Flint is not Bethesda

The area around White Flint Mall, in fact all of Route 355 north of the beltway was called "Rockville" up until a few years ago when developers started building high end condos there and dubbed it "North Bethesda." Bethesda is inside the beltway, and is fairly urban. If you move to White Flint and tell locals you live in Bethesda -- well, it isn't. That being said, the traffic on Rockville Pike is very bad, and the closer to the beltway you are it is more convenient.

That's true. When I read the thread I would have chosen Bethesda in a second because I thought Bethesda was inside the Beltway. Bethesda inside the beltway is so much nicer, walkable and pedestrian friendly. But since your talking about outside the beltway I don't think it really matters.
